A meeting took place in Kyrgyzstan’s Batken region between Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, Chairman of Tajikistan’s Sughd Region, and Aibek Shamenov, the President of Kyrgyzstan’s plenipotentiary office in Batken. The discussions focused on the resettlement of villagers affected by agreements on the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, Asiaplus.tj reports.

The officials also addressed clearing the border line of fences, trees, and commercial structures, as well as conducting informational outreach among local communities.

Security and the strengthening of good-neighborly relations were key points of discussion. The parties agreed to continue regional cooperation to ensure stability and peace in the border area.

On March 13, 2025, the presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan signed an agreement completing the border delimitation. As part of its implementation, fencing is planned along a 420-kilometer stretch by the end of 2025.
