Tajikistan's Finance Minister Discussed Cooperation with WB and IMF in Washington

Tajik Finance Minister Faiziddin Qahhorzoda held a series of meetings in Washington with representatives of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, Avesta.tj reports.

In particular, talks were held with Cecil Niang, World Bank Director of Financial Operations. The parties discussed expanding cooperation in the areas of financial sector development, private sector access to finance, economic digitalization, and improving the investment climate.

On April 13, the Minister of Finance and National Bank Governor Firdavs Tolibzoda met with IMF Deputy Managing Director Bo Li. They were briefed on the state of Tajikistan's economy and the results of the Policy Coordination Program, which concluded in December 2025. The program's implementation contributed to strengthening macroeconomic fundamentals, increasing budget transparency, and advancing institutional reforms.

Fayziddin Qahhorzoda also met with Junaid Kamal Ahmad, Vice President of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA). The parties discussed the agency's capabilities in energy, transport infrastructure, and green finance. An agreement was reached for MIGA and World Bank representatives to visit Tajikistan in the next two weeks to assess projects.

The delegation also met with Jihad Azour, Director of the IMF's Middle East and Central Asia Department. The parties confirmed their commitment to continued cooperation in the areas of macroeconomic stability, fiscal policy, private sector development, and financial system digitalization.
