Kyrgyzstan has become the only Central Asian country to receive a grant from the World Trade Organization (WTO) Trade Facilitation Mechanism to digitalize trade procedures, Economist.kg reported.

The $114,800 funding will be used to implement modern electronic systems, optimize customs processes, and reduce administrative barriers to cross-border transactions.

The WTO grant underscores the growing recognition of Kyrgyzstan's institutional reforms by international financial and economic institutions.

The implementation of advanced WTO standards will allow Bishkek to expedite the passage of goods across the border, reduce transaction costs for local businesses, and increase the transparency of foreign trade flows.

For the entire Central Asian region, receiving the grant sets a precedent for the successful modernization of trade infrastructure. Simplifying procedures in Kyrgyzstan will contribute to the development of more seamless logistics corridors between the EAEU countries, China, and South Asia, thereby increasing the overall transit and investment potential of the region.
