On October 21, 2026, in Dushanbe, the Government of Tajikistan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed agreements for the allocation of $63.77 million for two grant projects in the areas of healthcare and social insurance, Avesta.tj reported.

The documents were signed by Tajik Finance Minister Fayziddin Qahhorzoda and ADB Country Director for Tajikistan Ko Sakamoto.

The first $43.7 million initiative aims to strengthen regional healthcare security, develop primary health care, and enhance preparedness for epidemiological threats with support from the Pandemic and Green Climate Funds.

The second $20.5 million project focuses on the digitalization of the pension and social benefit systems and expanding social insurance coverage.

For Tajikistan, attracting grant funding is key to modernizing social infrastructure without increasing the burden of public debt.

Strengthening primary healthcare and introducing digital technologies into the pension system will improve access to public services for the rural population, reduce social inequality, and create reliable mechanisms to protect citizens from economic and climate shocks.
