Uzbek President Shafkat Mirziyoyev is attending a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Astana, where he announced Tashkent's intention to further deepen economic cooperation with the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, Gazeta.uz reports.

However, Uzbekistan is not a member of the EAEU and has had observer status since 2020.

According to Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan's interaction with the union's member states has already become a comprehensive economic partnership. He cited the creation of a unified digital space to facilitate trade, develop e-commerce, and implement modern customs mechanisms as one of his priorities.

The growth of mutual trade is an important confirmation of the dynamics of this interaction: according to Uzbek and Eurasian statistics, Uzbekistan's total trade turnover with the EAEU countries will amount to approximately $15 billion in 2025, demonstrating a steady positive trend amid expanding industrial cooperation and simplified trade procedures.

Among the key areas of cooperation, the President of Uzbekistan highlighted the creation of "smart" transport and customs corridors, the development of industrial cooperation, and the launch of joint production projects. Particular attention is also proposed to be paid to the implementation of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly technologies.

Furthermore, Tashkent supports expanded cooperation in labor migration, digital employment services, and tourism, including the promotion of the "Central Asian Tourism Ring" initiative. According to Uzbek authorities, this format will allow for stronger ties with the EAEU without full membership.
