TASHKENT - Uzbekistan, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan have signed an agreement to expand cooperation within the CASCA+ railway project, aimed at developing an international transport corridor and increasing freight volumes, according to a statement from UztemirYulKonteyner, according to Uzdaily.uz.
The agreements were reached at a meeting of representatives of the six countries' railway administrations, led by Abdumalik Kamilzhanov, Deputy Chairman of Uzbekistan Railways. Participants reviewed the route's performance in 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, discussed existing restrictions, and measures to improve transportation efficiency.
Particular attention is paid to reducing delivery times, improving the quality of logistics services, and developing a competitive tariff policy.
The development of CASCA+ is seen as an important step toward strengthening transport connectivity in Eurasia. The corridor has the potential to expand Central Asian countries' access to international markets, reduce dependence on individual routes, and improve the sustainability of export and import supplies through faster and more predictable shipments.
The parties also previously discussed the creation of a coordinating consortium and the implementation of digital solutions for cargo tracking.
