Turkmenistan and ILO Discussed Expanding Cooperation in Labor and Social Protection

In Geneva, on the sidelines of the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference, a meeting was held between Turkmenistan's Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Muhammedseit Silapov, and the Director-General of the International Labour Organization, Gilbert Houngbo, Orient.tm reports.

The parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation, focusing on improving the national labor market, developing the social protection system, and implementing international labor standards. The participants confirmed their interest in further strengthening their partnership and implementing joint programs.

The meeting took place amid discussions of global challenges related to the digital transformation of the economy, the spread of artificial intelligence, and changing forms of employment. In these circumstances, ensuring decent working conditions and protecting workers' rights is particularly important.

Earlier, the Turkmen delegation held talks with ILO Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, Pieter van Rooy. The discussion focused on implementing the joint Roadmap, modernizing labor legislation, improving occupational safety standards, and fulfilling international commitments to eliminate forced and child labor.

Following the meetings, the parties noted the high level of interaction and expressed their willingness to continue constructive dialogue aimed at developing social policy and improving labor relations in accordance with international standards.
