DUSHANBE - Health ministers from Central Asian countries discussed the finalization of the draft "Roadmap for Health and Well-being in Central Asia 2026–2030" at the 79th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Khovar reported.
Tajikistan's Minister of Health and Social Protection, Jamoliddin Abdullozoda, participated in the meeting. He noted that work on the document has become an important stage in regional cooperation, from the initial consultations in Dushanbe to the agreement on governance mechanisms and practical approaches for implementing the initiative.
The head of the Tajik Ministry of Health noted that the draft roadmap and its implementation guidelines have been generally agreed upon, and the countries of the region are ready to move on to the document's approval and practical implementation.
Meeting participants emphasized that 2026 has been declared the Year of Health in the CIS. The parties agreed that the new roadmap should become not only a strategic document but also a tool for coordinating joint efforts by Central Asian states in the healthcare sector.
Tajikistan confirmed its readiness to support the initiative and participate in its implementation in key areas of regional cooperation.
During the assembly, Jamoliddin Abdullozoda also met with World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. The parties discussed Tajikistan's current interactions with the WHO and expressed interest in further strengthening cooperation.
