Kyrgyzstan's approach to migration policy was presented at a UN forum in New York. A report on Kyrgyzstan's vision for addressing migrant issues was presented by Mederbek Aliyev, Economist.kg reports.
Speaking at the General Assembly, the First Deputy Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament (Zhogorku Kenesh) stated that the country continues to adhere to the principles of the global agreement on safe, orderly, and regular migration.
He noted that the country has a support system for migrant workers, including pre-departure preparation, consultations, legal assistance abroad, and assistance upon return. Specialized centers and hotlines are in place for this purpose.
The Mekenim 1+1 program, aimed at attracting funds from migrant workers to develop small and medium-sized businesses, was also presented. According to Aliyev, the initiative helps expand investment opportunities for citizens working abroad.
At the forum, Kyrgyzstan also presented a national voluntary review, prepared with the participation of government agencies, the expert community, and the civil society.
According to the Deputy Speaker, the republic prioritizes not only protecting its citizens abroad but also ensuring the rights of foreign citizens within the country, including access to social services and legal protection.
