Kyrgyz Authorities Announced Possible Lifting of Some EU Sanctions

BISHKEK - Kyrgyzstan's Keremet Bank may be removed from US and UK sanctions lists. This was announced by Daniyar Amangeldiev, First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, 24.kg reports.

According to him, the authorities are continuing negotiations with Western partners and have prepared a special roadmap. Kyrgyz representatives have already held several meetings in the US, UK, and Brussels.

Amangeldiev noted that, according to statements from foreign parties, there is no evidence of the bank's involvement in evading sanctions. He emphasized that the issue should be resolved through dialogue, not through legal action.

Kyrgyz authorities also consider certain restrictions imposed by the European Union to be unfounded.

Over the past two years, several Kyrgyz banks and companies have been subject to Western sanctions. These include Kapital Bank, as well as a number of financial and cryptocurrency entities.

Furthermore, the 20th EU sanctions package against Russia imposed restrictions on the supply of certain categories of equipment to Kyrgyzstan, including metalworking centers and telecommunications equipment.

President Sadyr Japarov previously stated that unjustified sanctions were hindering the country's economic development and were a form of external pressure.
