Countries bordering Iran may face increased migration pressure amid the escalating situation in the Middle East. This was stated by Evgeny Sysoyev, Head of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, at the 19th Meeting of Heads of Departments of Competent Authorities of the Commonwealth States, Hronikatm.com reports.

According to him, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkmenistan are the most vulnerable in this regard. Sysoyev noted that further escalation of conflicts in the region could lead to large-scale migration flows and humanitarian problems similar to those observed after the crises in Libya and Iraq.

The head of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center also reported that the intelligence agencies of the Commonwealth countries continue to actively cooperate in countering terrorism and extremism. According to him, more than 2,500 terrorist and extremist crimes, including over 300 attempted terrorist attacks, were prevented in the CIS countries in 2025.

Furthermore, law enforcement agencies disrupted the activities of more than 200 terrorist and extremist cells, eliminated approximately 900 sources of funding for radical organizations, and blocked nearly 19,000 online resources with extremist content. As part of preventative measures, deradicalization programs were implemented for individuals influenced by extremist ideology.
