Kazakhstan has begun a week of high-level diplomacy, with King Abdullah II of Jordan and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon both arriving on official visits, reported The Astana Times.
King Abdullah II is visiting Kazakhstan on November 5–6 at the invitation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, presidential press secretary Aibek Smadiyarov announced. The leaders are expected to discuss expanding cooperation in trade, investment, the economy, culture and humanitarian affairs. The King last visited Kazakhstan in August 2025.
Rahmon’s visit runs from November 5 to 7. He and Tokayev are expected to discuss strengthening the strategic partnership and allied relations between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
On November 6, Astana will also host a summit of the Aqaba Process, with several heads of state attending. The Aqaba Process is a Jordanian initiative launched in 2015 to coordinate international efforts against terrorism and violent extremism.
Hosting the meeting underlines Astana’s ambition to serve as a platform for international dialogue between Central Asia, the Middle East and other regions, a role it has pursued through earlier initiatives such as the Astana format talks and the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.
