Uzbekistan and U.S.-based engineering company FLUOR Corporation discussed opportunities to improve the efficiency of the country’s mining operations through advanced technologies for copper processing and beneficiation.
This was reflected in the statement by the Uzbek Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, following a meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology, led by Deputy Minister U. Yusupov, and FLUOR Corporation held on August 12.
During the meeting, FLUOR representatives presented information on the company’s activities, experience, and projects implemented in relevant sectors. The sides also exchanged views on potential areas for cooperation in Uzbekistan’s mining industry.
Particular attention was given to improving the efficiency of Uzbek enterprises through the introduction of modern technologies in copper beneficiation and processing.
“During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on increasing the efficiency of enterprises in Uzbekistan through the application of modern technologies in copper beneficiation,” the ministry said.
The discussions come as Uzbekistan seeks to modernize its mining industry, increase the efficiency of mineral processing and make greater use of advanced technologies across the sector.
Cooperation with international engineering companies such as FLUOR could provide Uzbekistan with access to specialized expertise and technological solutions for improving processing operations and increasing the value derived from its mineral resources.
The focus on copper beneficiation is also consistent with Uzbekistan’s broader efforts to expand the processing of mineral resources domestically rather than relying primarily on the extraction and export of raw materials.
The meeting provided a platform for the sides to examine potential technological cooperation and identify opportunities for applying international experience to Uzbekistan’s mining and processing operations. Further engagement could support efforts to modernize existing enterprises and improve their operational efficiency.
