President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with a European Union delegation led by Commissioner for International Partnerships Jozef Síkela and Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, who arrived in Tashkent on a working visit, Uza.uz reports.
The parties discussed the development of trade, economic, and investment cooperation, including the implementation of agreements reached during the President’s visit to Brussels in October this year. The EU representatives conveyed warm greetings to President Mirziyoyev from President of the European Council António Costa and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
Mirziyoyev congratulated the European commissioners on the successful organization of the Third Central Asia–EU Economic Forum and the Investors’ Forum on the Trans-Caspian Corridor held in Tashkent. A series of major new regional projects were launched following these events.
It was noted that Uzbekistan–EU relations continue to demonstrate steady positive dynamics. This year, the parties signed the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA), held summits in Samarkand and Brussels, and completed negotiations on Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO.
Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and the EU has increased by nearly 7% since the beginning of the year. The effective implementation of the EPCA is expected to further boost trade volumes and expand investment cooperation.
The sides also discussed the development of industrial cooperation projects, collaboration in transport, digitalization, energy, critical minerals, healthcare, and other key sectors.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on pressing international and regional issues.
