A national workshop is underway in Ashgabat to update the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan for 2026–2035 and prepare the Seventh National Report to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity. The event is being held with the support of UNDP and the Global Environment Facility, jointly with the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, Turkmenportal.com reported.

Participants from government agencies, scientific institutions, the private sector, and civil society are discussing the rational use of natural resources and the implementation of international environmental obligations.

Updating the national strategy is crucial for Turkmenistan, where the preservation of unique ecosystems is directly linked to climate change and water scarcity. International cooperation allows the country to leverage expertise and modern approaches to environmental management.

The workshop also demonstrates Ashgabat's commitment to strengthening its practical participation in the global environmental protection system.
