DUSHANBE - Trade turnover between Tajikistan and Iran increased by 28% in 2025 compared to the previous year, and in the first quarter of 2026, it grew by approximately 50% year-on-year. This was announced during a meeting between Tajikistan's Minister of Transport, Azim Ibrahim, and Iran's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Tajikistan, Alirizo Hakikion, Khovar reports.
The parties discussed the current state of cooperation in the transport sector and prospects for its expansion, the Tajikistan Ministry of Transport stated.
Azim Ibrahim noted that Iran remains one of Tajikistan's key and reliable economic partners. He noted that cooperation in the transport sector is demonstrating positive dynamics, with particular attention being paid to accelerating the implementation of previously reached agreements.
For his part, Alirizo Hakikion emphasized that, despite the challenging situation in the Middle East, bilateral relations will continue to strengthen. He also expressed gratitude to the Tajik side for its solidarity.
The parties confirmed their interest in further developing cooperation and expanding economic ties between the two countries.
