Firdavs Tolibzoda, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, participated in the 7th Meeting of the Central Banks Forum of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-COMCEC) in Istanbul, reports Avesta.tj.
In his address on “Assessing Tajikistan’s Progress in Line with the Four Priority Areas of the OIC-2025 Program,” Tolibzoda emphasized that over the past decade, despite financial instability and a complex international environment, Tajikistan has maintained its focus on inclusive and sustainable development, social stability, and has achieved tangible results in implementing the program’s objectives.
He noted that the country’s poverty rate has declined from 32% to 20.4%, while the average monthly salary has increased several times. The financial sector has strengthened significantly: bank assets nearly tripled, and the share of non-performing loans has decreased.
Tolibzoda also highlighted advances in digitalization. The number of mobile and internet users has grown manifold over the last ten years, and cashless transactions have reached billions of dollars. These developments have created new financial opportunities for citizens and businesses, laying the foundation for a digital economy.
He stressed that Tajikistan, guided by principles of inclusivity and social stability, remains committed to strengthening regional solidarity and fostering collective cooperation within the OIC framework.
