Turkmenistan's total portfolio of joint projects with American businesses has already approached $45 billion. Ashgabat is interested not only in the raw materials sector but also in high-tech transfer, stated Halk Maslahaty (Parliament) Chairman Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in an exclusive interview with Al Arabiya TV, Orient.tm reports.

He also identified electric power, the IT sector, logistics, and knowledge-intensive manufacturing as priorities.

He also emphasized the importance of innovation, specifically, leveraging American experience to diversify the Turkmen economy.

According to the former president, Turkmenistan, which has the fourth-largest gas reserves in the world, has confirmed its multi-vector approach:

  • TAPI Project: Construction of the Afghan section is proceeding rapidly. The project is open to American investors.
  • Trans-Caspian Route: Readiness to supply gas to Europe confirmed. A key condition remains the resolution of international legal issues regarding the delimitation of the Caspian Seabed jointly with Azerbaijan.

During his visit to Florida, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thoroughly studied the state's experience in organizing the sports and resort industries.

  • Avaza Resort: Florida's experience in building world-class golf courses will form the basis for the development of the Turkmen coast. Cooperation with Nicklaus Companies will catalyze the transformation of Avaza into a global tourist destination.
  • Horse Breeding: The leader of the nation proposed combining the traditions of Turkmen horse breeders with American equestrian technologies to promote the Akhal-Teke breed on the global stage.

Particular attention was paid to youth policy in the interview. A specialized English-language school is planned for the new "smart" city of Arkadag. Turkmenistan aims to prepare high school graduates for admission to leading US universities, such as Harvard, MIT, and Columbia University.
