Uzbekistan’s Namangan region has signed a $105 million investment agreement with the Italian company Gamma Meccanica, reported Trend, citing the regional administration.

The agreement was signed on November 1 during a visit by a Namangan delegation to Italy. It covers industrial equipment manufacturing, energy-efficient technologies and plastic waste processing. The Italian side is expected to supply industrial equipment, introduce energy-saving solutions and develop plastic recycling technologies.

The aim is to bring Italian technology and expertise into Namangan’s manufacturing sector, make production more efficient, save resources and expand recycling. The document sets a framework for further cooperation; the timetable, production capacity and breakdown of the investment have not yet been disclosed.

The deal fits Uzbekistan’s strategy of attracting European technology into its regions and developing processing industries. It was one of several investment announcements today. The Eurasian Development Bank also discussed financing mining and metallurgy projects with Uzbek officials, and China’s RIPO expressed interest in producing optical fibre in the country.
