Daniyar Amangeldiev, First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, conducted a series of high-level strategic meetings during the 62nd Munich Security Conference (MSC). The discussions focused on sanction policies and promoting Kyrgyzstan’s candidacy for the UN Security Council, according to the Cabinet’s press service.
Amangeldiev held talks with key European diplomatic leaders to strengthen bilateral ties and secure support for Kyrgyzstan’s international initiatives. Key meetings included:
- Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy.
- Gordan Grlić-Radman, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia.
- Nemanja Starović, Minister for European Integration of Serbia.
- Helga Schmid, former OSCE Secretary General.
A major focus of the visit involved navigating the complex global regulatory landscape. Dedicated sessions were held with:
- David O’Sullivan, EU Sanctions Envoy, and Paolo Zampolli, U.S. Presidential Special Envoy for Global Partnerships. These talks centered on sanction policies directly impacting financial flows, foreign trade, and the regional investment climate.
- Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, and Jozef Síkela, EU Commissioner for International Partnerships, to discuss economic cooperation and financial stability.
A priority for the Kyrgyz delegation was promoting the country’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2027–2028 term. Amangeldiev emphasized Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to regional stability and its role as a mediator in Central Asian affairs.
