On the eve of the new tourist season, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation of tourism-related projects, according to the website of the President of Uzbekistan.

One of the promising locations for tourism development is the "Chorvoq Darvozasi" complex in the Bostanlyk district. In December of last year, the president personally inspected the progress of its construction. The first phase of the project has recently been completed. The complex includes 16 apartment buildings, three hotels, commercial and service facilities, cafés and restaurants, a bank office, and a parking area. Solar panels will be installed on the rooftops of the buildings.

During the presentation, the next stages of the complex’s development and measures to enhance its tourist appeal were outlined. An initiative was also announced to build a small hydroelectric power station on the Chirchik River to supply the complex with affordable and environmentally friendly electricity.

Another project involves the construction of an oceanarium in the Yashnabad district of the capital. The new tourist site will cover 20 hectares on the banks of the Chirchik River. A commercial and hotel complex is also planned nearby, which will create 1,600 new jobs.

The president noted that, thanks to Uzbekistan’s rich history, culture, and unique nature, the country has the potential to increase the number of tourists two to three times. It is only necessary to thoroughly consider the legal, financial, and infrastructure aspects of the projects and develop a clear action plan.

Compared to 2023, the number of tourists visiting Uzbekistan in 2024 increased by nearly a quarter - 24.3% - reaching over 8.2 million people.
