Uzbek Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov stated that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan play a key role in the implementation of the Middle Corridor, a priority route for cargo transit to Europe. He made the remarks in an interview with Uzbekistan 24, according to Gazeta.uz.

"Both countries are direct participants in the Middle Corridor and ensure safe crossings across the Caspian Sea," Makhkamov emphasized.

A memorandum on establishing joint transport and logistics companies was signed following the trilateral summit of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan. The initiative aims to streamline cargo movement and provide preferential treatment for Uzbek exports.

Another memorandum was signed with Turkmenistan on cooperation in shipbuilding. Uzbekistan is considering purchasing ferries from shipyards in Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan to speed up Caspian crossings, where current delays can last up to a month.

Makhkamov noted that these steps will reduce transportation costs and open access to new international routes.
