TASHKENT - On June 8, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on defense development, including further strengthening the air defense system and the Air Force, Gazeta.uz reports.
As part of ongoing reforms, the Air Force and Air Defense Forces are being modernized: they are being equipped with modern aircraft, air defense systems, and unmanned aerial vehicles. At the same time, the practical flight training program is being expanded and the level of combat readiness of units is being improved.
Particular attention is being paid to personnel training. The Military Aviation Institute in Karshi has been renovated in accordance with international standards and equipped with modern simulators and simulation systems. Cadets undergo training combining theory and practice, including classes at the Khanabad airfield.
Measures to implement a new air defense system and reorganize aviation units to improve the responsiveness and mobility of troops were also discussed.
Defense Minister Shukhrat Kholmukhamedov announced the signing of a "historic decree" providing for the creation of an Air Force Combat Command with a digital command system, as well as the formation of new units equipped with high-precision weapons and UAVs.
According to him, the document's implementation will significantly enhance the combat capabilities of aviation and air defense forces and improve the protection of the country's strategic facilities.
