Uzbekistan has officially joined the European Raw Materials Alliance (ERMA), Dunyo.uz reports.
The Uzbekistan Technological Metals Plant (TMK) has become a member of ERMA, marking an important step in the country’s integration into the global supply chain of strategic resources. This move further solidifies Uzbekistan’s status as a key player in the critical minerals market.
In 2024, Uzbekistan and the European Union signed a memorandum of understanding on raw materials cooperation. ERMA membership opens new opportunities for the country, including access to European investments and grants, joint scientific research with leading EU technology centers, and entry of TMK products into international markets with higher quality standards.
“We look forward to working with TMK to advance ERMA’s goals and to further strengthen cooperation between the European Union and Uzbekistan,” said ERMA Director Massimo Gasparon.
The Alliance plays a pivotal role in ensuring Europe’s supply of lithium, tungsten, rare earth elements, and other resources vital for the green transition. Uzbekistan’s participation in ERMA will allow the country not only to supply raw materials but also to play an active role in the development of high-tech industries — transforming from a resource exporter into an innovative partner for global industry.
