The majority of new settlers who moved to Russia’s Pskov Region this year came from Turkmenistan, according to Natalia Tudakova, Director of the Resettlement Support Center “Compatriot,” Informpskov reports, as cited by Hronikatm.com.

More than 40% of resettlers who arrived in the region in 2025 were from Turkmenistan, followed by 26% from Latvia, and a smaller share from Estonia.

“The picture changes from year to year. Compatriots are finding opportunities across all sectors. The main goal of the program is to support the regional economy with skilled personnel. The program has criteria such as educational background and other qualifications,” said Tudakova. “Since its launch, about 90 medical professionals have relocated to our region and are building their lives here. People are also active in business, education, engineering, and skilled trades.”

The State Program for the Resettlement of Compatriots Living Abroad has been in effect in the Pskov Region since 2010. Over the past 15 years, more than 12,000 people from 24 countries have moved to the region under this initiative.
