The UNDP supported the development of Turkmenistan's Digital Economy Development Concept and the State Program for 2026-2028. This was announced by Dmitry Shlapachenko, UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, in an interview with the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.
According to him, with UNDP support, innovations in financial reporting and methodologies for implementing the System of National Accounts have been introduced. Risk management at customs has been strengthened as part of the creation of a Single Window for export-import operations.
"The pilot project to introduce the electronic equivalent of the SMGS railway consignment note using UN/CEFACT standards was an important milestone, bringing Turkmenistan closer to global best practices," the coordinator noted. UNDP also equipped four vocational education institutions with modern IT infrastructure and provided training to over 100 young people.
