At the trilateral summit in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, Turkmenistan’s Chairman of the People’s Council (Halk Maslahaty) Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov announced the country’s readiness to supply electricity to European countries via Azerbaijan, according to Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The summit was attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The leaders discussed deepening regional cooperation and concluded the meeting by signing a Joint Statement and a series of agreements on transport, logistics, shipbuilding, civil aviation, and trade.
Berdimuhamedov highlighted that the launch of a new 1,574 MW power plant on the Caspian Sea coast will create additional capacity for electricity exports to Baku and onward to Europe.
This announcement opens new prospects for regional energy integration and could become a key step in diversifying energy routes to Europe. Azerbaijan is emerging as a crucial transit partner, reinforcing its role as an energy hub linking Central Asia and Europe.
