The main focus of the meeting was to define Turkmenistan’s national priorities for the new UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for 2026–2030 and to develop joint strategies for advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Minister Meredov outlined key directions of Turkmenistan’s strategic partnership with the UN, covering a wide range of issues - from peace and security to socio-economic development, the promotion of the green agenda, expansion of transport and energy infrastructure, and climate action.

Special attention was given to the activities of the Turkmenistan–UN Strategic Advisory Council, established in 2023. The Council plays a critical coordinating role in the implementation of both national and international initiatives at political and socio-economic levels.

Participants also discussed the prospects for further cooperation between Turkmenistan and specialized UN agencies in areas such as sustainable development, environmental protection, transport, climate change, education, healthcare, human rights, and cultural heritage preservation. The sides exchanged views on integrating international best practices into national development programs.

UN representatives provided updates on current cooperation formats with the Government of Turkmenistan and shared proposals to deepen collaboration. The meeting concluded with an agreement on a schedule of upcoming consultations and joint activities, reflecting a mutual commitment to strengthening the partnership.
