Talks between Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh were held on the sidelines of international events in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, according to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The main agenda item was deepening partnership in transport and logistics. The parties discussed in detail the expansion of transit opportunities, the modernization of related infrastructure, and strengthening regional connectivity. The heads of departments exchanged views on coordinating actions within international transport corridors and confirmed their readiness to continue constructive dialogue.

The talks in Avaza highlight the strategic nature of Turkmen-Iranian relations in the context of developing new logistics routes in Eurasia.

For both countries, the revitalization of the North-South corridor and the promotion of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran route with access to the ports of the Persian Gulf remain a key priority. Against the backdrop of the region's geopolitical transformation, Ashgabat and Tehran are striving to secure their status as a key transit hub between Central Asia, the Middle East, and South Asia.

Synchronizing tariff policies and developing border infrastructure allows both countries not only to increase freight volumes but also to monetize their geographic location, reducing dependence on traditional logistics arteries.
