ASHGABAT - Turkmenistan hosted a meeting between Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and First Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Ding Xuexiang, who arrived in the country on behalf of Chinese President Xi Jinping, TDH reports.
During the talks, the parties noted the high level of bilateral cooperation. The Chinese side conveyed greetings from Xi Jinping and emphasized that relations between the countries are developing on the basis of mutual respect and equality.
The Turkmen side confirmed its interest in further strengthening the partnership and supporting China's international initiatives, including at the UN. They also noted shared positions on key issues on the global agenda and active cooperation within the "Central Asia-China" format.
Energy remains a key area of cooperation. The parties discussed the implementation of projects to supply Turkmen gas to China, including the development of the Galkynysh field jointly with CNPC.
In addition, prospects for cooperation in transport and logistics, trade, economics, and humanitarian affairs were discussed. China remains one of Turkmenistan's largest trading partners.
