Speaking at the High-Level International Conference on Glacier Preservation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, outlined a set of concrete proposals aimed at protecting glaciers and mitigating the impacts of their rapid melting.
According to the Khovar news agency, the Tajik leader urged the international community to take the following urgent and decisive measures:

Raise global awareness about the critical role glaciers play in providing drinking water and supporting sustainable development goals.

Strengthen international cooperation, including by actively engaging scientists, researchers, civil society, and other stakeholders in the fight against accelerated glacier melting and its consequences.

Establish comprehensive monitoring and scientific research to deepen understanding of glacier changes, their impact on ecosystems, water resources, socio-economic development, and global climate patterns.

Implement joint measures to address the socio-economic effects of rapid glacier retreat, including issues related to water access, food security, energy production, and the preservation of natural and cultural heritage.

Align glacier preservation efforts with global climate change mitigation strategies.

Mobilize and effectively utilize financial and technical resources for the practical implementation of glacier protection initiatives and for supporting the International Glacier Protection Fund.

Develop and implement national and regional strategies and action plans to ensure the preservation of glaciers for future generations.
President Rahmon emphasized that glacier preservation is a shared responsibility of the global community and called for coordinated efforts to safeguard this invaluable resource for the planet.
