As of July 1, 2025, the population of Tajikistan reached 10.6 million people, according to the Statistics Agency under the President of Tajikistan, reports Avesta.tj.
In the first six months of 2025, the country’s population grew by 2.1% compared to the same period in 2024. The natural population increase amounted to 98,900 people, or 18.8 per 1,000 residents—2% higher than in the first half of 2024.
From January to June 2025, civil registry offices (ZAGS) recorded 116,200 births and 17,200 deaths, including 800 infants under one year of age. Preliminary data indicate a crude birth rate of 22.1 per 1,000 people and a mortality rate of 3.3 per 1,000.
Analysts note that population growth is driven by sustained natural increase and strong birth rates, creating favorable demographic conditions for the country’s long-term socio-economic development.
