Industrial production continues to play a pivotal role in sustaining Tajikistan’s economic growth, according to Avesta.tj.
Citing data from the Agency for Statistics of Tajikistan, the Khovar news agency reports that industrial enterprises and private manufacturers produced goods worth 13.85 billion somoni ($1.3 billion) in the first quarter of 2025 - an increase of 23.4% compared to the same period last year.
Industrial development remains one of the government's top priorities. Under a presidential decree by Emomali Rahmon, the years 2022–2026 were declared the “Years of Industrial Development,” with accelerated industrialization identified as the country’s fourth national goal.
This underscores the sector’s vital role in job creation, export growth, and the strengthening of economic stability.
Key growth indicators:

Mining industry: Output increased 1.8 times, reaching 4.62 billion somoni. Coal and boron extraction rose by 30%, while production of metal ores nearly doubled (up 1.7 times), and other minerals grew 1.5 times.

Manufacturing: Up 2.1%, with total output reaching 6.49 billion somoni.

Energy and environment: Production and distribution of electricity, gas, steam, and air purification rose by 10%, totaling 2.66 billion somoni.

Water supply, waste management, and recycling: Grew by 28.3%, reaching 78.8 million somoni.
Regional breakdown of industrial production:

Sughd Region: 60.8% of total output, with 1,242 enterprises.

Khatlon Region: 19.8%, with 866 enterprises.

Dushanbe: 21.7%, with 822 enterprises.

Districts under Republican Subordination: 18.7%, with 708 enterprises.

Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO): 3.8%, with 142 enterprises.
In total, 3,780 industrial enterprises operated across the country in Q1 2025, of which 3,257 were in the manufacturing sector.
Experts emphasize that industry remains a key indicator of economic activity and a foundation for building domestic value chains. Efficient use of natural resources and increased investment in processing are seen as the basis for sustained growth.
