Tajikistan intends to establish itself as a strategic transit hub within major international transport corridors, including TRACECA and ESCAP, according to Azim Ibrohim, the country’s Minister of Transport. He made the statement during a meeting with Armenian Ambassador Armen Gevondyan, Ritmeurasia.ru reports, citing Tajikistan’s Ministry of Transport.
During the talks, both sides discussed opportunities to boost cargo transportation between their countries and to develop new multimodal routes. Particular attention was given to the “China–Tajikistan–Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan–Iran–Turkey–Europe” corridor, which Minister Ibrohim emphasized as strategically vital for the entire region.
Ambassador Gevondyan, in turn, provided updates on Armenia’s progress in implementing the “North–South” project, aimed at facilitating transit between Central Asia and the South Caucasus. He also highlighted Armenia’s role in the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative, which seeks to modernize the region’s transport infrastructure with Armenia as a central player.
The meeting underscored a shared interest in enhancing transport cooperation and developing regional connectivity.
