A Dual-Use Goods Identification Laboratory has opened under the Agency for Chemical, Biological, Radiation, and Nuclear Safety of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Pressa.tj reports.

The opening of the Dual-Use Goods Identification Laboratory in Tajikistan is an important step in the development of the national export control system. The creation of a specialized expert platform will improve the quality of identification and classification of dual-use goods, ensure scientifically sound expertise, and strengthen the country's compliance with international obligations related to the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

Given the overall situation in Central Asia, this step is consistent with a regional trend toward improving mechanisms for controlling the circulation of sensitive goods and technologies. States in the region are gradually strengthening their regulatory frameworks, developing specialized structures, and expanding international cooperation in the field of export control and non-proliferation. However, the level of technical equipment and expert capacity remains uneven, making the creation of such laboratories an important element in developing a modern risk assessment and decision-making system.

In the long term, the new laboratory's operations could contribute to increased transparency in export procedures, strengthen trust with international partners, and develop Tajikistan's scientific and technical expertise in dual-use goods control, which will have positive implications for both national and regional security.
