The Government of Tajikistan has adopted Resolution No. 350 introducing new export duty rates aimed at stimulating the country’s processing industry, Asiaplus.tj reports.

Signed on June 14, 2025, the document replaces the previous fixed euro-denominated fees with percentage-based duties on raw materials, including minerals, cotton fiber, leather, and silk.

Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Ashurboy Solehzoda explained that the reform is designed to curb the export of unprocessed raw materials and encourage value-added production within the country. Under the previous system, export duties stood at €300 per ton for leather and €100 per ton for silk. The new flexible rates will allow for more targeted regulation of trade flows. At the same time, Tajikistan will maintain duty-free exports for 34 product categories, in line with its export development strategy through 2030.

The reform aligns with practices in other EAEU states: Kazakhstan applies export duties on 44 categories of raw materials, while Uzbekistan imposes duties of up to 100% on 86 types of goods. Officials expect the changes to enhance the competitiveness of Tajikistan’s products on global markets through the development of advanced processing and the use of renewable energy.
