Tajikistan Hosts World Navruz Youth Festival and SCO Youth Forum

DUSHANBE — The Second World Navruz Youth Festival and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Youth Forum have opened in the capital of Tajikistan. The events, supported by the Committee on Youth and Sports, will run until March 26, Avesta.tj reports.

Over 200 young people from 30 countries are participating in the festivals. The program kicked off with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Ismoili Somoni monument and a ceremony at the National Library. Participants also joined an environmental tree-planting campaign.

Goals and Objectives: The festival aims to unite young people based on the values ​​of peace, friendship, and cultural diversity. Key objectives:

  • Support cultural dialogue and exchange of ideas;
  • Promote the legacy of Navruz as a symbol of renewal;
  • Create a platform for youth initiatives to address global challenges.

The SCO Youth Forum, initiated by Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon at the Tianjin Summit, focuses on strengthening international cooperation and mutual understanding between the organization's countries.

Cultural and Business Program: The events include:

  • Crafts exhibitions and a gastronomic festival;
  • Educational panels and discussion sessions;
  • Environmental campaigns and sports competitions;
  • Excursions to historical sites in Dushanbe, Hisor, Tursunzade, and the Khatlon region.

Navruz is one of the oldest holidays in Central Asia, the Middle East, and the Caucasus, symbolizing the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new solar year. Celebration traditions include the preparation of national dishes, public festivities, sports competitions, and charity events.
