DUSHANBE - Bakhodur Sheralizoda, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan, addressed the 8th Assembly of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) in Samarkand and called on the international community to increase climate finance for the most vulnerable developing countries, Avesta.tj reports.
According to him, along with expanding financial support, it is necessary to simplify mechanisms for accessing climate resources so that countries facing the impacts of climate change can more effectively implement environmental protection and adaptation projects.
During his speech, Bakhodur Sheralizoda presented Tajikistan's international initiatives in the areas of water resources, climate policy, glacier conservation, and biodiversity. He also outlined national environmental priorities, including the development of green energy and the implementation of the Greening Tajikistan Program until 2040.
The head of the agency emphasized the importance of continued support for projects on climate change adaptation, restoration of degraded lands, protection of mountain ecosystems, and sustainable management of natural resources.
Forum participants noted that these areas remain key to strengthening environmental sustainability and mitigating the negative impacts of global climate change.
