In the first half of 2026, Tajikistan increased its mineral exports by 49.6% compared to the same period last year, reaching $500.3 million. According to the Statistics Agency of Tajikistan, the volume of exports in this category amounted to $334.4 million in the first six months of 2025, Sputnik-Tajikistan reports.

Cement, enriched ores, oil and oil products, liquefied gas, coal, and electricity played a significant role in the structure of mineral exports. Thus, the growth in exports reflects the expansion of the mining sector, increased production capacity, and the development of the country's foreign trade relations.

Mineral products remain a key component of Tajikistan's export economy. They account for over 40% of the country's total exports, making the dynamics of this sector directly linked to foreign exchange earnings and the balance of foreign trade.

Growing mineral exports is strategically important for Tajikistan, as the country has significant potential in the mining sector, but also needs to expand its sources of foreign exchange earnings and diversify its export base. Increased supplies of ores, cement, coal, and other mineral commodities will help boost export revenues and support the development of industrial production.

It is particularly important that export dynamics are increasingly dependent not only on raw material extraction but also on the development of processing. Increased production of enriched ores and construction materials creates higher added value within the country and potentially increases budget revenues, employment, and investment activity.

The nearly 50% increase in mineral exports in the first half of 2026 indicates a strengthening of the industrial and raw materials component of Tajikistan's economy. However, to achieve a sustainable economic impact, the country must convert natural resources into a wider range of high-value-added products while simultaneously reducing its dependence on commodity markets.
