In Dushanbe, following a two-day session of the joint intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan signed a Protocol on advancing bilateral collaboration, recording a 17.1% increase in trade turnover to $43.1 million in 2025, Asiaplus.tj reports.

The co-chairs of the commission—Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Sulaymon Ziyezoda and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Tangryguly Atakhallyev—emphasized that the agreements reached create a solid foundation for further expanding bilateral ties. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in transport, energy, water resources, industry, agriculture, education, and science.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan noted that relations between the two countries have gained qualitatively new momentum thanks to regular meetings at the highest and governmental levels. The signed Protocol defines key areas of joint work and marks an important step in strengthening friendly relations.

On March 4, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Turkmen delegation led by Atakhallyev. During the talks, particular attention was given to the potential for cooperation in trade, industry, transport, logistics, and the agricultural sector. The parties also expressed interest in expanding cultural and humanitarian exchanges in sports, tourism, youth initiatives, and scientific-educational fields.
