Tajikistan’s Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Zavqi Zavqizoda, met with Turkmenistan’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Mammetguly Astandulov, in the city of Arkadag to discuss expanding trade relations between the two countries, Khovar reports.

Zavqizoda emphasized that, thanks to the wise and forward-looking leadership of the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, bilateral relations have reached a high level and continue to strengthen.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to increasing the volume of mutual trade, enhancing freight transportation and transit, and deepening industrial cooperation.

Tajikistan also invited Turkmenistan to participate in the upcoming High-Level International Conference on Glacier Preservation, scheduled to take place in Dushanbe from May 29 to 31, 2025.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to accelerate the implementation of directives issued by their respective heads of state.

Meanwhile, in Bishkek, during the first meeting of the Turkmen-Kyrgyz Joint Commission on Transport, Transit, and Logistics, held from April 28 to 30, 2025, a protocol was signed outlining agreements in several priority areas, Orient.tm reports.

These include the development of transit corridors, expansion of multimodal transport routes, and cooperation in road, rail, and maritime transportation — particularly through the effective use of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport — as well as alignment on tariff policies.
