Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a phone conversation initiated by the Iranian side, Asiaplus.tj reports. The ministers discussed a wide range of issues related to bilateral cooperation and international developments.
According to a brief statement from Tajikistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two diplomats exchanged views on the current situation in the Middle East. Muhriddin reaffirmed Tajikistan’s firm stance on the latest developments.
The Iranian Embassy in Dushanbe noted that Muhriddin once again condemned the military attacks carried out by Israel and the United States on Iran, calling them illegal.
“On behalf of himself and the people of Tajikistan, he expressed condolences to the people and government of Iran, stating that Tajikistan believes the great and wise people of Iran will overcome this difficult period with dignity,” the embassy stated.
Araghchi expressed gratitude for Tajikistan’s support and emphasized that the condemnation by countries in the region and the Islamic world reflects “a shared understanding among a significant part of the global community about the dangers posed by Israel’s actions.” He also underscored the international community’s responsibility to hold Israel accountable for its “flagrant violations of international law.”
On June 13, Israel launched strikes against various sites in Iran, targeting facilities linked to the Iranian nuclear program. Iran responded with missile attacks on Israeli territory.
On June 22, the United States joined the conflict. U.S. air forces bombed Iranian sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, with former President Donald Trump claiming the targets were destroyed. Iran retaliated by striking a U.S. airbase in Qatar. Following this escalation, Trump announced that Iran and Israel had agreed to a ceasefire.
Iran’s Health Minister reported that 606 people were killed in 12 days of Israeli attacks. In Israel, Iranian strikes claimed the lives of 28 people.
