Tajikistan's Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Rukhshona Nasriddinzoda, held talks with Li Ningping, Vice Chair of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China, Avesta.tj reported.
During the meeting, the parties noted Xinjiang's strategic importance in mutual trade and discussed practical steps to modernize transport infrastructure, develop logistics centers, and expand e-commerce within the framework of the Central Asia-China regional format.
A key focus of the talks was attracting Chinese investment and technology to establish joint industrial enterprises for processing green and critical minerals. The parties emphasized the need to develop localized production chains—from raw material extraction to the production of finished high-tech products.
Following the meeting, Dushanbe and Urumqi reaffirmed their commitment to further increasing bilateral trade and expanding investment cooperation.
The talks in Dushanbe reflect a systemic shift in Tajik-Chinese relations from traditional trade to deep industrial cooperation. As China's key land gateway to Central Asia, Xinjiang is a natural driver for the modernization of regional transport corridors, directly reducing logistics costs and accelerating Dushanbe's integration into international trade flows.
In turn, a focus on the advanced processing of rare and "green" metals allows Tajikistan to move away from a raw materials-based export model. Attracting Chinese direct investment will create a foundation for the development of new high-tech industries, strengthening the country's position in global supply chains for renewable energy components and electronics.
