Trade turnover between Tajikistan and Russia reached a record $2.47 billion by the end of 2025. This was announced in Dushanbe following a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia, chaired by Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, Avetsa.tj reported.

Tajik exports to the Russian market increased by 2.5%. Dushanbe also advocated for more active use of the bilateral trade potential and the creation of joint ventures, including in raw material processing.

Compared to other Central Asian countries, Russian-Tajik trade remains relatively small. In 2025, Kazakhstan's trade turnover with Russia amounted to $27.4 billion, Uzbekistan's to approximately $13 billion, and Kyrgyzstan's to $3.85 billion. The latest public estimate of Turkmenistan's trade with Russia exceeds $1.6 billion.

Currently, Russian-Tajik trade is lagging behind that of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan, but Dushanbe expects further expansion. The main areas identified as investment, industrial cooperation, raw material processing, and increased mutual supplies are listed.
