Switzerland and the United Kingdom were the largest purchasers of Kyrgyz gold in early 2025, according to data from the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, 24.kg reports.
From January to April 2025, Kyrgyzstan exported gold worth $112 million. The Swiss Confederation accounted for the largest share, buying $74.6 million worth of gold, followed by the United Kingdom with $31.2 million. Smaller volumes were purchased by Malaysia ($5.3 million) and Turkey ($1 million).
In total, 1.16 tonnes of gold were exported during this period.
Earlier, Melis Turgunbaev, Governor of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, informed members of the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) that the country’s gold reserves currently stand at 52 tonnes.
