The second meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between Kazakhstan and China took place in Almaty. The delegations were headed by Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu, and Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi, according to a statement of the press service of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the Strategic Dialogue meeting, the sides noted the positive momentum in the development of Kazakh-Chinese relations across the full range of bilateral cooperation. Special attention was given to joint efforts to strengthen trade and economic ties. The need to develop new approaches for joint advancement in industrial and investment cooperation, energy, transit and transport, and innovation was emphasized, including increasing Kazakhstan’s non-commodity exports to China.
Last year, bilateral trade turnover reached a record $43.8 billion. Both countries aim to double the volume of mutual trade in the near future. The Kazakh-Chinese investment pool currently includes 224 projects worth approximately $66.4 billion.
"We view Kazakhstan as a priority partner in China’s foreign policy toward neighboring countries. China firmly supports Kazakhstan’s efforts to protect its territorial integrity, sovereignty, and security, as well as its development in line with its national characteristics," Wang Yi stated.
