Russia and Kyrgyzstan have intensified joint efforts to address issues related to the registration of Kyrgyz citizens working in the Russian Federation. This was announced by the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, on the sidelines of the CSTO summit in Bishkek, Economist.kg reports.

Moscow is ready to simplify procedures for Kyrgyz nationals, provided that the requirements of Russian legislation and the norms of the Eurasian Economic Union are observed, said Peskov. He emphasized that more than half a million Kyrgyz citizens work in Russia, and the question of their legal status remains one of the key issues on the bilateral agenda.

He recalled that the day before, the Russian Minister of Internal Affairs had presented a detailed report on measures to streamline the stay of migrants and improve the registration system.

“The main task is to make it easier for them to comply with all legal requirements,” the press secretary noted.

At the same time, Peskov drew attention to the fact that tens of thousands of Kyrgyz citizens still do not complete their registration properly and stressed the need for joint efforts:

“Yes, there is a problem, but it should not be exaggerated. We are working together now — it is important that both sides make additional efforts.”

Speaking about Russia’s policy toward Central Asian states, Peskov stated that Moscow builds relations on the principles of integration and mutual benefit:

“Our cooperation is mutually beneficial — this is indisputable.”
