The 3rd Interparliamentary Forum of Central Asia opened today at the Ala-Archa State Residence in Bishkek under the theme “Parliaments of Central Asia: Effective Solutions for Comprehensive Regional Development.” Parliamentary leaders and senior representatives from all five regional states — Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan — convened to strengthen legislative cooperation.

Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, Speaker of Kyrgyzstan’s Jogorku Kenesh, stated that in just three years, the Forum has become the region’s central platform for crafting joint policies and harmonizing legislation.

Key Statements from Regional Leaders:

Maulen Ashimbaev (Kazakhstan):
“The Forum is the engine of integration. Historic agreements — the Kyrgyz-Tajik border treaty and the trilateral accord with Uzbekistan — symbolize our commitment to stability. The Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan alliance treaty further strengthens our region. Together, they form the foundation for economic growth and collective security.”

Tanzila Narbaeva (Uzbekistan):
“This Forum is indispensable. In three years, we’ve built unprecedented trust. Intra-regional trade has tripled, and the number of joint ventures has grown sixfold. Parliaments are the architects — building the legal frameworks that turn cooperation into tangible progress.”

Rustam Emomali (Tajikistan):
“This Forum reflects our unwavering commitment to dialogue. Thanks to our leaders’ vision, Central Asia is becoming a true zone of partnership. In today’s volatile world, only solidarity can shield our region from global crises.”
He highlighted the March 31 trilateral border agreement (Kyrgyzstan–Tajikistan–Uzbekistan) signed in Khujand and the bilateral Kyrgyz-Tajik border treaty as “a new impetus for multi-dimensional cooperation.”
Emomali proposed hosting the 4th Forum in Dushanbe.

Nury Golliev (Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Kyrgyzstan):
“The Forum is a vital platform for regional dialogue. Turkmenistan remains firmly committed to deepening interparliamentary ties across all domains — from trade and economy to culture and humanitarian exchange.”

The Forum signals a clear shift: Central Asia is moving from declarations to concrete action. Parliaments are emerging as the new drivers of integration — advancing cooperation through legislation, investment, and institutional trust.
