Tajik Minister of Economic Development and Trade Abdurakhmon Abdurakhmonzoda participated in the Economic Forum of the United Nations Program for the Economy of Central Asia (SPECA), which was held on January 21, 2026, in Ashgabat via videoconference. The main topic of the meeting was regional integration within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, Avesta.tj reports.

In his speech, he summarized the implementation of the initiatives put forward at the SPECA Heads of State Summit in Baku in November 2023. Abdurakhmonzoda noted that program member countries account for over 35% of Tajikistan's foreign trade, but this potential is not being fully utilized. To strengthen regional ties, Abdurakhmonzoda called for a focus on ensuring the unimpeded movement of agricultural products, developing e-commerce, and the rational use of water resources.

The Tajik side placed particular emphasis on transport integration. The head of the ministry emphasized the need to improve multi-industry corridors, create a network of modern logistics centers, and actively digitalize transport procedures. According to him, such measures will create a solid foundation for inclusive economic growth throughout Central Asia.

The energy sector noted that Tajikistan continues to play a key role in the region's transition to clean energy sources. The minister announced a planned increase in capacity for generating green energy from renewable sources, which meets international climate commitments. The SPECA Economic Forum is held annually in one of the participating countries, and Tajikistan served as the honorary host of this significant event in 2024.
