In the Central Karakum Desert in Turkmenistan, a new appraisal and production well No. 265 was put into operation at the Chemmerli gas field, the industrial gas inflow of which exceeded 150-200 thousand cubic meters per day. The drilling of a well with a depth of 1,200 meters was carried out by specialists from the Dovletabadgazodobycha department of the Turkmengaz concern, reports Orient.tm.
During testing of the productive formation, a stable daily flow rate was recorded, confirming the industrial productivity of the site. The development of Chemmerli is part of Turkmenistan’s program to expand the raw material base of the oil and gas industry and increase natural gas production.
The commissioning of a new high-yield well is of strategic importance for Turkmenistan, since natural gas remains the basis of the energy sector and one of the main sources of export revenues. Increasing production allows us to simultaneously supply the domestic market and generate additional volumes for export.
The development of Chemmerli is especially important given Ashgabat’s desire to diversify export routes. Additional gas volumes strengthen the country's position in negotiations on new energy projects and support existing supplies to China, Iran and Russia.
At the same time, the long-term effect will depend not only on the growth of production, but also on the development of gas processing, infrastructure and new export directions. In this context, Chemmerli is part of Turkmenistan's broader strategy to maintain its position as one of Central Asia's leading gas producers.
